Q.

The sum of the ages ofA, B and C is 96 years. To find out B's age, which of the following information given in the statements P and Q is/are sufficient

P: A is 6 years older than C

Q: The total of B and C's ages is 56 years..                         [Bank P.O 1994]

A. P B. Both P And Q
C. Q D. None of these

Answer: Option B
Explaination:

A + B + C = 96. Let C = x. Then, A = x + 6.

x + 6 + B + X = 96 so B + 2x = 90

Now B + C = 56 so B+ X = 56

x=(90 - 56) = 34.

B+2x = 90 => B = (90 - 68) = 22.

Thus both P and Q are needed.
